Coach & DD's Visit

Our time with Coach and DD went way too fast, but we loved having them
here for their spring break.  I've promised to build them a garage apartment
in our backyard so that when they retire they can come hang out with Owen
whenever they want.  Unfortunately, Rebecca has made a competing
offer to get them jobs at Disney World, so I may have to think of a way to
sweeten the deal!

We spent the week strolling Owen around the neighborhood, going to a few
Easter parties (including the church egg hunt pictured in the slideshow),
making our NCAA tournament brackets (DD is winning the family pool right
now!) and catching me up on projects around the house.  They cleaned my
outside windows, helped me put up a new mailbox, washed my dishes by
hand when our dishwasher broke, etc.  (Why haven't I poured the foundation
for that garage apartment yet?!)

Breaking News!

Owen started rolling over!  It happened for the first time yesterday evening when his Grandmother and Granddad were taking care of him, and I missed it!  But Owen was kind enough to repeat his performance today.  In fact, now I can't get him to stay on his stomach anymore - he just keeps flopping on over.

Owen's sleeping habits have had me on a roller coaster lately.  He'll go on a sleep strike for a few days...then make it up to me by sleeping through the night for a few days...then he's back on strike again.  I've read that babies' sleep patterns can become erratic when they're on the verge of a milestone, so I guess Owen has just been up at night plotting how to get from his stomach to his back.  I hate to think of the bags I'm going to have under my eyes when he learns to walk!

Happy Easter!

Well it's been so long since I posted that Blogger didn't even remember me!  I had to log in from scratch.  I hope you all have had a wonderful Easter and Spring Break.  We certainly have.  Owen's Coach and DD came in from Texas for a week-long visit, and as usual they spoiled all of us!  I will get a blog up about their visit in a few days.  For now, here are some photos from Owen's first Easter.  (No, we did not make him wear the hat in public.)

Weekend with Aunt Rebecca & Joe

Owen's Aunt Rebecca and her guy Joe flew in from Orlando last Friday
morning, and we enjoyed a great long weekend together.  Having come
from 70 degree weather, the Floridians were pretty excited to wake up
Saturday morning and see snow!  Rebecca said it was only her 4th time
ever to see the white stuff;  Owen is 25 years younger and the lucky fella is
already on his third time.  (Though I imagine he would question his fortune
when facing the prospect of being velcroed into that goofy blue hat again.)

I learn so much when I watch how others interact with Owen, and seeing the
way he responded to Rebecca and Joe's energy and enthusiasm (and
sometimes just plain goofiness!) was a great reminder to me that I need to
loosen up and enjoy Owen more. The little guy laughed, "talked" and moved
more than ever these past few days, and I give our two visitors all the
credit.  Thanks guys!

The only sad part of the weekend was that Jennifer couldn't be here.
She planned to come Sunday morning but was unable to get a flight.
I really treasure any time all three of us sisters can be together, and it
just didn't feel complete without her.  Love you Jenn and hope you can
reschedule a visit soon!

She should have named him Ralph...

Good news, Owen likes Joe! Bad news, Owen has already barfed on everything I own.
We just thought we would show everyone what great photographers we are; we actually caught Owen in mid spit up not once, but twice. Notice the wardrobe change... Joe thinks it is fun to play Superman Baby after Owen eats... and then Joe passes him to Aunt Rebecca. We will continue to document the weekend... hopefully with a little less puke.

Gezhundheit!!!

I set out to video Owen doing this cute little throat-clearing laugh he's been working on, but I got a sneeze instead.  Gotta love serendipity!

He's four months old today.  I've officially lost track of how many weeks he is, so I guess that means it's time to move on to counting by months.

I planned to write more, but Greta just threw up next to my desk chair and I stepped in it...barefoot.

Lucky 13?

If Owen seems a little pleased with himself in this picture it's because he is.

Cue Hallelujah chorus.

He slept through the night last night!!!  We put him to bed at 10PM and he didn't wake up until 6:30AM - when our fat cat Greta made an ungraceful dismount from our bed and woke him up.  Yes, Owen still sleeps next to our bed.  I think it's a combination of convenience and over-attachment (mine) that keeps him there.

I've been told on several occasions that 13 pounds is the magic weight many babies must reach before they begin sleeping all night.  So I weighed him this morning and he is just shy of 13 lbs.  Was it a strange Leap Day phenomenon or the beginning of something wonderful?  I think I'll increase his number of feedings just to be sure.
