Some Stock Footage

This video is from two weeks ago when I didn't know how to post movies.  His smiles and coos are already much more animated than they were then!

Owen went to his first Sunday church service with us yesterday.  (It wasn't his first official time in church since he also attended the Christmas Eve service.)  And just as he did then, he slept through the entire event - although his ability to sleep yesterday was much more impressive.  It was Disciple Now weekend, and we shared our service with the youth and got to hear their speaker and musicians.  The band was great but very loud (think Jesus meets Fall Out Boy).  Owen never even flinched!  It must have something to do with all the concerts he attended in utero.  There will come a day when it will embarrass me for him to be sawing logs in God's house, but right now I couldn't be more proud!

Thumbawumba

The pacifier's days are numbered!  I spent an hour yesterday watching Owen discover the art of thumb sucking.  His hand circles before landing, and it most often lands on his cheek or nose rather than his mouth.  It was so tempting to help him out, but I resisted (except for rolling his sleeve back).  This video documents one of his more successful attempts.  Sorry it's so short.  We haven't unpacked our video camera yet, and the memory on my digital camera maxes out after 15 seconds.

This video appears courtesy of Aunt Jennifer who told me about Photobucket!

The Nursery

Owen loves his room.  Whenever we have trouble calming him, we just take him to his nursery where he can watch the ceiling fan.  And now he has a new picture to look at too.  We bought it Saturday from an art gallery down the street.  Right now it's the only thing on the walls, but we plan to add more pictures and some drapes over the next few weeks.
Don't turn me in for leaving him alone on the changing table.  I promise I'm closer to him than it looks in the picture!

SN + OWEN

It snowed!!!  We originally heard it was supposed to snow in the night, so I was really disappointed when I looked out the window this morning and saw nothing more than wet grass. But then around 9 AM the snow started coming down.  We dressed Owen in the moose suit Rebecca gave him for Christmas, a too-big hat I bought for him yesterday and newborn sized gloves (a.k.a. socks!).  He cried a little at first, then stared around for a few minutes, and finally passed out before Scott could even finish building the snowman.  We had a blast!

Two years ago today...

I had the car accident that served as my wake-up call.  And look how much better my life is now!  I must say I'm working just as hard as I was then, but I'm so much happier on this path.
Yesterday Owen got his first vaccinations.  I chickened out last week when he was supposed to get them, and if they had made us wait 5 minutes longer yesterday I may have fled for the parking lot!  But we both survived.  Owen cried from the time he got the shots until after I got him home, and then he zonked out for 3 hours.  I just kept him full of Tylenol and cuddled him all day - mostly to help my conscience, I'm sure.

The pic of Owen in the green suit is from Monday, and I took the photo of him under his mobile this afternoon.  It's a little blurry because we replaced the wheels on the bottom of his crib with springs.  Now he just kinda surfs around when he's in it.

Just a Swingin'

"Little Owen he's as pretty as the angels when they sing..."

We've discovered that swinging Owen back and forth in his car seat is a great way to calm him down (and occasionally even put him to sleep).  But after sustaining multiple self-inflicted injuries to my shin, I suggested we go out today and buy a real swing.  Special thanks to Aunt Nana and Uncle PawPaw since their Babies R Us gift card was used to make the purchase!

And sorry about the mystery post Speck.  I had attempted to post video of Owen laughing, but it didn't work.  We'll get some moving pictures on here one day!

A special message...

Well two days ago I thought it was Tuesday and that the 11th fell on Saturday.  But then I realized it was Wednesday and the 11th was Friday and it was too late to send a card!  Hope this is way better anyway.  We love you!!!

For Aunt Becky...

more face shots of Owen.  He had his two month check-up yesterday, and he's finally big enough for his numbers to show up on the growth chart, so no more zero percentile!
Owen's stats:
Weight - 9 lbs 5 oz (10th percentile)
Length - 23 in (50th percentile)
Head Circumference - 14 in (37th percentile)

Strollin' Owen

The weather was gorgeous yesterday, so we took Owen for his first stroll.  We just went down the street to our friends the Sutton's house, but it was fun to be out with him.  He fussed a little at first and then settled in for the ride.  I actually took him out again this afternoon by myself and he fell asleep, so he's still in his stroller in the middle of the living room!

Happy 2 Months Owen!

Owen's finally old enough to smile for the camera!  He weighed in today at 9.5 pounds.  And we've reached a new milestone...he's graduated to size one diapers!

Happy New Year!

Even though Scott and I somehow managed to keep ourselves up long enough to ring in 2008, the little guy didn't quite make it to the stroke of midnight.

Owen's 1st Christmas

Here are just a few images from Owen's first Christmas.  He got a rocking horse, a mobile for his crib, a musical octopus, lots of stylish clothes, and several checks and savings bonds for his college fund.  Thank you everyone!
