Getting Dressed (and Dumpster Diving!)

I decided to turn the tables on myself and let Owen pick out our clothes today.  Don't know if I would have done the grey on grey shirt layering he has me wearing, but all things considered, he was kind to me.  And it was a fun way to nix the getting dressed power struggle we've had around here lately.

Now to the dumpster diving...

On my way to teach ACT classes yesterday afternoon, I spied some mid-century chair legs poking out of a neighbor's remodeling dumpster.  I couldn't stop then, but I went back around 10 last night (in the rain, with 3-inch heels on) and dug this old guy out.  I couldn't find any manufacturing info on it anywhere, but look what I found while doing a Google image search!  The only difference is mine has 5 legs.  That makes it worth 20% more right?

I know what profession you and your mom can go into when the two of you decide to quit education. You can become "Pickers". I know your mom would love it and I have seen the things you have found just digging around. The two of you could make pretty good money. Owen did a decent job of dressing you. I have often wondered what goes through kid's minds when they have to wear what adults put on them. Maybe that is why it is such a battle to get them dressed. Do they think the same things we think when somebody tells us what we have to wear?

I think it is fiberglass. And when I took the cushion off I realized they had it on wrong. It should look just like the one in the link, so there's not a cushion up high and the pretty diamond pattern can show.

And I think you're right Dad! I'm always torn between wanting Owen to just do what I say and wanting to teach him to think and care for himself. I think what he wears is a good place to give him a little ground!

Cute outfit and great chair!! Just so you know, Mike wore his jeans backwards to the park today with his dinosaur rainboots- I am not brave enough to let him dress me just yet!

Hey Kristy! I check in with you on your blog pretty often. I just need to quit being lazy and start leaving comments! You have lots of great ideas.

I usually try to leave Owen alone too even if he puts something on backwards - wouldn't want to train him to become neurotic like me. Well, except that I do have him fix his underwear, it just looks too painful to leave them reversed all day!
